OUR PIZZERIA IS DIVIDED INTO TWO SECTIONS

Lunch & Go

One section is a lunch-and-go area. It is a place for busy people who have no time to waste and just want to quickly eat a slice of our Italian pizza. The pizza we serve there is 100cm x 30cm. It is divided into pieces, and sold by the slice. 

Restaurant

The other section is an atmospheric restaurant whose ambience is created by the dim lighting, glowing candles, and the sounds of Italian music in the background. The place will take you on a culinary journey through Italian tastes, topped off with exquisite desserts, Italian alcohols and drinks. The menu features delicious Italian pizza on a crunchy crust, served on a wooden board. This allows our guests to create their own portions of many different pieces: 4 flavours per 1 metre of pizza, 3 flavours per 75 cm of pizza, 2 flavours per 50 cm of pizza.

When was pizza born?

  • o give you an idea of the popularity of pizza, imagine that if you continue to read this text for at least a minute, 21 thousand pieces of pizza will be eaten worldwide during that time!!!
    And when was pizza invented? To trace its roots, we have to go back to antiquity. The whole pizza frenzy can be blamed on ancient Egyptians, as it was them who came up with a prototype of pizza. Their version of pizza had the shape of round and thin bread which was a staple article in the diet of that amazing civilisation.
  • It was baked in special stoves which were heated up to a very high temperature before the dough was put in. According to experts, a dish resembling pizza was also known in ancient Greece. Their culinary version of pizza was a flat loaf of bread smeared with olive and garlic, and sprinkled with herbs.
    Later, the dish appeared on Etruscan and Roman tables. It was known under different names in different places: foccacia, coca, pita, pide, plakous…choices galore.... But it is the inhabitants of 18th century Naples that are credited for inventing pizza in the form of flat yeast dough topped with tomatoes.
  • Do you know that Christopher Columbus also contributed to the creation of pizza – he brought the first tomatoes from America to Europe in the 16th century. Initially, they were thought to be poisonous, but this reputation did not scare off the poor and starving inhabitants of Naples who came up with the idea to put tomatoes on their flat yeast bread.
    And that was the beginning of the Italian pizza…The dish was so successful that it became one of Naples’ major attractions. People who visited Naples deliberately ventured into its poor districts to taste this new delicacy.
  • And when did cheese first appear on the pizza? Well, here is your answer: It was in the year 1899 when Queen Margaret of Savoy decided to pay a visit to Rafaele Esposito. He was the most famous person in Naples at that time owing to the delicious pizzas he made. Soon after the Queen expressed her wish to taste the specialties prepared by Esposito, she honoured him with her presence. Specially for that occasion, he created for her a tricolour pizza matching the colours of the Italian flag. Green was made from basil, white from mozzarella, and red from tomatoes. The pizza was named “Margherita” to honour the Queen (Margherita is the Italian equivalent of Margaret).
  • From then on, pizza began its conquest of the world. Nowadays, it is hard to find a country on Earth that does not have at least one Italian restaurant.
    If there is one in every country, then why not in Poland? And if in Poland, then why not in Poznań??:-) Welcome to Pinco Pallino Italian Restaurant and Pizzeria!
